Video companion / freshwater system

Freshwater pump won’t prime.

Pump runs but no water? Start with the accessible supply side, then stop before the fault turns into an electrical or plumbing repair beyond a basic prime check.

Public diagnostic preview

Three checks before you chase the pump.

  1. 01 / Supply

Confirm the selected tank has usable water and its accessible supply valve is open.

  2. 02 / Inlet

Trace the accessible inlet run for a kink, loose fitting, or strainer bowl and seal that are not seated cleanly.

  3. 03 / Retest

Restore power only after reassembly, then watch the inlet side while one cold-water fixture is open.

Safety boundary

Turn pump power off and relieve pressure before opening a strainer bowl or loosening a fitting. Stop and arrange qualified marine help for water at wiring, heat or damaged insulation, a burning smell, a cracked fitting, or any fault that is not clearly an accessible supply-side issue.

Hespera Fix Preferred Systems / freshwater

Our practical default: SHURFLO Revolution.

When a replacement is appropriate, we start with the SHURFLO Revolution 4008 family—not a long menu of interchangeable pumps. Confirm the exact voltage, flow and pressure requirement, port and hose fit, circuit protection, and mounting before buying.

Compatibility exception: keep the existing manufacturer's model-specific pump or service parts when the installed equipment, voltage, hose fittings, capacity, or integrated system does not safely match a Revolution pump. This is independent editorial guidance, not a sponsored recommendation.

Member workflow / freshwater pump

You checked the easy failures. Now trace the system in order.

The full freshwater-pump workflow follows the water path from selected tank to pump, helps you plan compatible parts before you buy, and marks the conditions that should stop the job and move it to a marine technician.

  • The complete tank-to-pump diagnostic sequence
  • A tools and compatible-parts planning checklist
  • Inlet-side failure points to rule in or out
  • Clear decision points for calling a marine technician

Monthly membership is $12/month. Written guides are available now; aboard-SV-Hespera video walkthroughs are added after filming.

Use the installed-equipment manual for your exact pump and fittings. Stop for heat, damaged wiring, a burning smell, cracked fittings, or any fault outside an accessible supply-side check.
